The Round Top Horse Trials is an annual one-day equestrian event held in Castle Rock, Colorado, typically in early July. Established in 1988 by organizer Libby Stokes, the competition offers levels from Introductory through Training, focusing on providing a positive first experience for young horses and riders. The event features dressage, cross-country, and show jumping phases, with the cross-country course spanning approximately 40 acres of high desert foothills. Designed by Stokes with assistance from Steve Buckman, the course includes banks, ditches, and a water jump, catering to lower-level competitors. The trials emphasize community involvement, drawing volunteers and spectators from the local area, and play a vital role in developing the foundational levels of the sport in the region.
